Hi all, I've been gathering information from this forum and I guess it's now my turn to get some helps. Please kindly advice.

I've received a job offer from a highly reputable MNC and the third-party agency applied for my EP online last Wednesday. But 2 days after (today) I've been informed that it was rejected. They did not give me the reason. However, they said they would file a 'new' application for an S Pass.

I have a few questions:

1. when they say it's a new S pass application, do they mean an appeal?
2. is the chance for getting an S Pass higher than getting an EP?
3. How long would it take? is it still 7 working days or 3 weeks? ( just so I could decide on logistics)
4. What could be the reasons for rejection?
5. on the application I stated "xx university (international college) .I noticed that the list in MOM does have my university name on it but with out the international college. Could this be the error in my application? if it was, would they have stated it as a reason for the rejection ? or it could not have been the problem because the agency will have to select from the drop-down menu when filing my application? i know it's a bit stupid but just don't want to miss out any possibility. (because I did read some threads here that after they fixed the correct institution name, their passes got approved)

I sent an email to the agency but still haven't got any reply from them.

Here's my background.

Recently graduated with some working experiences less than a year. The job I was offered is in customer service area but needs my language ability (high fluency of English and my other language). the salary is 2800/month . I graduated from the university that is included in the MOM list with first class honors.

Your answers are highly appreciated!

Thanks all!  Wink

The monthly salary is the absolute bare minimum for an EP. Check your contract to ensure it doesn't fall short for any reason.

What country you from, and what country did you get your degree? There is a rumour circulating that MOM is restricting third world passport holders, except for construction workers that is

Thanks!  Smiley
It says on the contract that the salary is subjected to payroll deduction...so may be you're right. May be that's why they have to change it to the S pass.

Anyways, I'm still waiting for the result of the S Pass application. Turns out it's a new application so i won't have to wait too long. They just filed it online last thursday though Sad

Hi! I'm from Thailand and i got my degree from an international university here.
I know another Thai fresh graduate who got her EP approved in no time. (Different company)
So i'm not quite sure if they are restricting thai nationals to work in SG...I mean the job specifically requires the person to be able to speak fluent Thai.

But thank you for the thought! It could be the possible reason they rejected my EP. it would be sad if this is the case. Hee   Cry

I would have to guess and agree with a poster above and say salary. 2800 is the absolute minimum for an EP and as it says on your contract deductions they may take this as below 2800.

I know there has been a lot of talk about employers bringing people in on 2800 on their EP applications and then the employee returning a certain amount to the employer - this may be an urban myth but its one rife among many indignant Singaporeans who do not want any foreign talent.

As for Thailand and Thai degree's if your is on the list then do not worry - My company has brought Thai people here from Thai Universities with no problem.

Good luck with your application and your move.

Not an urban myth - there have been exposés in the past of such things occurring at even govt-linked entities. Not that it's rife by any means... but certainly not unheard of.

Thanks!
I knew the result that it was rejected 2 days after the agency lodged my EP online.
(But right now I'm waiting for the result of the new S Pass application :/ it was filed online last Wednesday.)

If the process takes longer like you said ,do you think  it's more likely that it'll be approved?

I was told by MOM last week that minimum salary for EP is 3000 per month.
Maybe that is why.

Wow ! Thank you for the information.
I thought I saw the minimum was 2,800. But yea I agree it's got something to do with the salary that my EP was rejected but S Pass is approved.
Anyways, thank you !  Wink
