I did search the archives, however the least thread on this seemed to be in 2008, so I would appreciate any recent experience.

Has anyone been to CLub Med Bintan recently. Have they finished their renovations? What was your experience - positive or negative. What's the best way to book?

Thanks
Angsana

I would be interested to hear views on Club Med too.

Meanwhile, I had a pretty bad experience at Angsana which was under heavy renvation (in May) and really should have closed the resort because the smell of paint and the noise of drilling was unbearable.

I went to ClubMed Bintan around Apr this year. It was the first time I went to Club med, had my 5yr and 2yr old children with me. We enjoyed ourselves and the GO made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the resort the whole time as there is nothing much to do outside. There are kids club there, even for my 2 yr old and they are very good with children. My elder girl, who is very shy, also enjoyed herself very much. In fact, now I am looking at going to either Club Med Bali or Phuket next.

Never been to the Club Med in Bintan for a good reason...

The Club Med in Cherating is literally half the price if you book when they have their promotions. For those with cars its a relatively pleasant 5Hr(ish)drive. Wouldnt rtecommend it for a weekend but its a nice 4 or 5 night break in the school holidays

Undecided  I quite enjoyed Club Med Bintan the first time (5 yrs ago) for its kids club and great trapeze for toddlers and adults.  But having being to other locations including Malaysia and France, I'd say Bintan's not a patch on its other resorts.

The quality of food, entertainment & rooms  not on par with others, so you'd be disappointed if you are comparing to previous experiences.  I wanted to spend little time in the room as it was quite bare - ceramic tile floors, spartan bathroom etc, though the window seta/sofa was big enough for those under 10yrs. I've been put off now since my son caught hand foot & mouth disease from the table tennis bats after a long weekend last year.  And no there was little little likelihood he caught from school or friends.  We could only trace the time/source to Club Med sadly.
