Hi - we're moving to Singapore in under a month. I wanted to get some feedback from any parents who have sent/currently enroll their kid(s) to Chatsworth East.
I'm looking to send my 4 year old there and would welcome comments on the school/teachers/facility/management. Any insight is appreciated!

My daughter has been there for just a few days as the new school year started on Monday. So far, I've been happy with the responses by staff to inquires and concerns. Time will tell about everything else; however, I did visit earlier before applying and was fairly well satisfied with most things. A lot really depends on the parents as well which is why a visit is important - there needs to be a good match. Chatsworth doesn't really push (at least at the lower levels from what I've seen) academics as much as some of the schools, but classes are smaller and there's more emphasis on being a good all around student.

Thanks for the thoughts.
What other schools in the area you were exploring? Which ones would you consider more academic focused? I am looking to stay in the Tanjong Rhu area and wanted to explore some school options in the vicinity - Chatsworth East is our top pick right now.

In the area, we looked at CIS, Eaton House, and Odyssey. CIS was ok but I found the other two overpriced for the value - in essence they seemed to be nice tuition centers - that's just my opinion. I'm sure others are more than happy.
UWC is more academically oriented; however, my previous comment about Chatsworth not being so wasn't a negative. In fact, I think especially at the younger ages, kids should just be kids and have some fun. I find that the social development is much more important and this age - from maybe P3 is when it's time to push the books a bit more.

My kids are at Chatsworth and its a great little school. Maybe the school isn't so pushy academically, but my kids are clever anyway and as the exploration of ideas and also learning to respect agreements (rather than rules) is top priority, they are developing an understanding and enjoyment of learning and getting along with others. Anyway if you feel your kid needs slamming with loads of rote learning and targets then this probably isn't the school you want. Its good at teaching them to enjoy learning and to question things though.

We have got 2 kids in Chatsworth East and we are quite happy there and so are the kids. For a 4 year old a smaller school environment might feel much nicer than a big school like UWC. Also even the younger kids get to meet the older kids during break times and play with them, which is great. It has a lovely and warm atmosphere. Also compared to other schools their fees are lower and honestly why do you need to pay $30K for a 4 year old like UWC charges? A lot depends on the teacher and even in UWC not all teachers are wonderful (which UWC parents have pointed out on this board before) and at Chatsworth you can get fantastic teachers as well. However, if only academics are on the top of your priority list then I am not sure you'll be happy at Chatsworth. My kids are still learning to read and write and their maths - so what more do I want. From what I know they have no bullying issues which they do come across in other schools (even at an early age!). Chatsworth has been an IB approved school for several years and I love the IB program.

Yes, I'll second that - in 2.5 years I have never heard of bullying at Chatsworth East and the discipline issues I have seen have been dealt with in a very compassionate but effective way. Calm, positive, firm...

My children are at Chatsworth and have been there for almost one full year. Basically my children have thrived there. Great environment for the kids, they are happy to go to school and they are learning so much. It is a small school and though not much to look at, has a lovely environment, welcomes parent participation, lots of feedback, great teachers and very progressive. Glad I chose it.
