The Techno XT and XLR go almost fully flat; 170 degrees.  It's deemed flat enough to put a newborn in I believe, but I've never tried.  They do come with a head support cushion for newborns though.

I like this pram - have seen it now.  But am worried that it doesn't have the feature to switch the handlebars direction so that the baby can face Mommy/Daddy.

How BIG of a feature is this, and if we added this as CRITICAL to our list, what would be the best Pram to get then?   I've watched little children being pushed around in front-facing prams and many of them swivel their bodies in an attempt to look back towards Mom/Dad and it looks uncomfortable.  I'm guessing that one loses a lot of "interaction" with the baby if the baby cannot be facing the person pushing.....

I know there is all this research about babies facing you but it's only for a few short months & they get used to it. I've had 4 kids (incl twins) so didn't even have a choice about prams & the McLaren Techno Twin was great. They're great for travelling, fold up. Man all this research is just done for us parents to feel guilty about yet another thing. It's just a pram for goodness sakes & they're not in it 24 hours a day!

Children need eye contact. Mums have a connection with their children and, even before the spoken word, they can teach the baby what is good, bad, funny, interesting...

When a child has the confidence, a mum will know. Then she can turn the seat round so that the child is driving and exploring.

The McLaren is a good buggy and does lie sort of flat and they market it from newborn but it's not on the same level as the bigger, bassinet type prams but they can be a bit impractical in Singapore.  You could use it but it wouldn't be that comfortable for newborns and they don't face the mum for eye to eye contact.  Depends how much walking or or how much usage you need it for the early months.
