http://www.yurts.com

What a great way to live.
A yurt fully loaded for less than $25,000
And more durable than the glass condos built in Singapore today.
Buy a field for under $50k, no planning permission needed.

Was watching a home decor channel show on Fiji the other day.

Amazing what spectacularly scenic properties can be had to under $1 million.
(similar would cost $6 million in Honolulu)

Agreed, what you can get here for under a million is fantastic value - two bedroomed shoebox and a parking space.   And the funniest thing is that they are still snapping them up.

There are some good properties on "Escape to the Country". A 14 acre estate in the Cotswolds or a 6-bedroom townhouse in a Cotswold village for about GBP 600-800k.
Download a VPN and check BBC iPlayer.
Grand Designs is also a good program.
Also I-Player for ITV stations. Stream live UK tv too.

Yes and western banks are still tempted by stimulus spending even though it is now widely known that bankers created debt by fraudulent means and demanded taxpayers bailout money which they then spent on bonuses and now they want more of the same.  Huh

The banks here are also off the wall. Citibank called today and offered me 6% interest for 1 year on funds transferred from an overdraft account or credit card. This would cost me about 24% interest per year. I told them I did not have an overdraft and they said, "oh, okay". How irresponsible.  Angry

But banks are not so stupid. Look at all properties bought in Singapore over the past 5 years and 90% will be heavily leveraged. In fact, if mortgagee(s) can remain employed, work like trojans for the next 30 years their little rabbit hutch will be theirs. If not, title will remain with the banks. The smart money is on the banks.  Grin

Doctor could you recommend a good pharmacist please?

I can see that you are still self-medicating, and that is a noble experiment. I certainly do enjoy your razor sharp observations, and given enough coffee, I can almost keep up with your train of thought. Almost.

Oh, I have an allergy issue. The symptoms are complicated, but in a nutshell when I'm exposed to bull$hit my eyes bulge and my fists clench uncontrollably.

It's about time for a good alternative to B&M. Do these yurts stay cool during summer?

if you all could pack your bags and move out immediately. I see no point in delaying gratification for the good life. Bring your maid with you, as well. She can cook, clean and be used as a foot stool. Ah, the good life.

But they dont go up in value like a good condo would.  Whichever way you look at it, investing in property here is the way to go.  Growing your hair long, getting a beard and living in Yurts is not. A nice fantasy but a year later you'd be back in CBD again and drinking happy hour pints with the expats on boat quay after work.
