Can anyone recommend a comprehensive and helpful book or guide that can assist me with understanding the British school system(s). We will be moving to the UK in a couple of years and need to understand the state, private and grammar systems to work through our options before we can decide where we live and how much we can afford.

There was a thread about this the other day - schools in the UK or something.

Check out the good schools guide, I think that's one of the best known sites for this kind of thing.
