Hello,

I'm currently on a DP, employed full-time. My employer said that they will apply for a DP to EP conversion for me if I want. (I know that this is subject to approval by MOM.)

Before I say yes, is there anything I should know? Are there any advantages to me or my spouse if I stay on a DP?

Thank you in advance for your input!

Biggest single advantage is that if your spouse loses their job or you go your separate ways you do not have to leave the country.  You are entirely independent.
You can also open your own bank account, get a credit card, mobile phone etc. i.e. do all the things that adults in most countries take for granted.

Although there is no guarantee that the EP will be granted I would not hesitate to accept your employer's offer.

For starters, if your spouse loses his job, the two of you can still stay because he can become your dependent whilst looking for a job.

Thanks for your replies! I appreciate it.

Actually, though, my question was whether there are any advantages to staying on a DP.

I'm guessing that since no one has mentioned any, there are none, but I just want to make sure there's not something that I'm not aware of.
