I find it far easier to eat gluten free in Singapore than back home, where everything is bread and pasta. Here I can eat rice (Chinese, Japanese, Malay, India, you name it!) and many Asian noodles like rice vermicelli or wide and flat hor fun or kway teow. Chinese also use rice flour for a lot of confectionery, which is also nice.

The problem with some Asian food is that there can be gluten in the soy sauce.

My Mum is coeliac so when she comes to sSingapore we go to Little India. Things such as Dosa are not made with wheat flour.  Quite a few other indian meals are suitable too.

There is also a restaurant/cafe in Rochester Park which has some gluten free options. I think it is called Onaka.

Please check the latest research: the wheat in soy sauce is almost next to nil due to fermentation process. It is considered a gluten free product.

PP that is totally false and dangerous information.  Most soy(a)  sauce contains added wheat and is not gluten free - and can be dangerous to coeliacs.  Tamara is wheat free and therefore gluten free.  There are a couple of other brands that are also wheat free but the majority have added wheat.  Please be careful giving out false information.

The coeliac society in the uk backs this up.

Do your research before blaming others. You do not drink vodka either do you? It is made of wheat!

There is far better research done in other countries but by all means stick to your own country's research only.

i am not a brit so don't even go there.  The Coeliac Society in the Uk is very reputable and highly respected in medical circles.  Don't like them; then how about the "Celiac" Foundation in the USA.  Says exactly the same. So what other countries are you referring to who do far better research?

But why am I trying to explain this to someone who thinks vodka is only made with wheat  Roll Eyes
