Hi,

I work for a large multinational and have the opportunity to move to Singapore. Can my girlfriend get a work visa and find a job in Singapore? She currently works in marketing.

I'm guessing this question has been asked before Smiley

Thanks,
Vincent

Only about 100 times... Smiley

She is free to get an employment pass just like you if there is a company that wants to hire her and apply for the EP, and if the EP is granted.

" Can my girlfriend get a work visa and find a job in Singapore? "

provided she is employable and not a criminal

why do you think there's a chance she may not be employable in singapore?

As Kapitan Obvious said, many, many times.

A better question is can your girlfriend get a job here? Marketing can mean a lot of things, so it's hard to say whether her skills would be in demand here.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

In terms of the question, I probably should have explained a little better. I can get an EP with work no problem. The question is can my GF come over to Singapore with no EP, find a job (if she's lucky enough), and get an EP then if the company is willing to sponsor her? Or does she need an EP to come in the first place? How long can she stay looking for a job on a holiday/tourist visa?

Thanks,
Vincent

She does not need an EP to come here (in fact, neither you nor her would have one prior to your arrival).

Depending on which country you're coming from, it's normal to get either a 30, 60, or 90 day visa on arrival. This would likely be extended at least once by taking a short vacation out of the country. During this time, she could look for a job.

It's also possible for you to apply for a long term social visit pass for her, although I've heard differing stories about whether the government gives these out to domestic partners.

Also look into the Dependant's pass scheme on the MOM website. This one would allow your girlfriend to work, unlike the Long Terms Social Visit pass. Although it's meant for married couples, I know unmarried couples who got it, you need to talk to your embassy to have your relationship status vetted, probably you need to provide proof that you actually lived together in your home country... not sure about the process in details but that's definitely possible.
