Hi there,

We are applying for jobs at UWC East campus and were curious as to what the housing allowance is for a teaching couple with children.

Thanks!

Ask them!

Every employee contract will have degrees of negotiation and should remain confidential between employer and employee.

I pray to the powers that be that it's not a teaching job you are going for, you sound like a halfwit.

It's not open to negotiation, there is a standard amount plus add-ons for spouse and children. I don't want to post the amount here as it is confidential but it is enough to get a decent apartment with facilities (pool, tennis courts etc) near the school.  You will be told the exact amount if they offer you a contract.

Yes, there is a standard amount depending on applicant circumstances, but it is negotiable (slightly).  I worked there previously, left 5 years ago.

That said, maybe the policy has changed.

Regardless, seems odd if the OP expected posters here to publish amounts paid to UWC teachers.

Thanks Teacher - very helpful

Not entirely true - wouldn't expect that it be published - meant to ask if would the allowance cover the rent of a reasonable apartment.

Chrystonabike - having worked in international schools worldwide, we know there are standard policies and that rental is rarely negotiable, unlike in other organisations, but thanks for your constructive advice.
