the missus and i are stopping over in singapore for 3 days in the first week of november. i lived in singapore for 2 years 2001-2003, and i'm familiar with the place ... although some of my favourite watering holes have shut down (johnny two thumb tattoo pub, rip). would appreciate any suggestions of places to see, restaurants/pubs/clubs to visit, any concert happening perhaps? we're in our early 30s, not the sightseeing type, usually just like to walk about a lot and more likely to spend an hour browsing a quaint second hand book-shop than a historical monument ... when i lived there my favourite places and things to do were harry's, liquid room, centro, concerts at fort canning, and a vegetarian mediterranean restaurant at holland village whose name i can't remember for the life of me. oh and we're from bombay so though I love the hustle and bustle of Little India, we get more than enough of it back home so we'll safely skip that part of the typical Singaporean holiday. any suggestions are most welcome and appreciated. cheers and thanks.

The main difference now is the Marina Bay area has been highly re-developed (one of Singapore's two casinos is there).  Walking around there is nice, you could start there and walk all the way down the Singapore River path.

Happy to inform you that Original Sin, the restaurant you refer to, is still there.  And Holland Village has an MRT stop now.

I would second the Marina Bay suggestion - you won't recognise it. If your wife has never been here, do one touristy thing and take a ride on the Singapore Flyer if the weather is good.

Dempsey Hill was probably nothing when you were last here - might be worth a wander one evening for drinks/dinner (you can google it). Places like Duxton and parts of Chinatown have also been revitalised with restaurants etc.

Tiong Bahru apparently has some cool shops & cafes now although I haven't tried any of them.
