hi guys,
I need some high tea recommendations in the city for my friend who is visiting. She's vegetarian, so more sweets and less sandwiches would be best.

Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

I love the afternoon tea at The Regent hotel.......lots of cakes, petit fours, scones with jam and cream and desserts  Smiley It's a nicer ambience than The Goodwood Park. They bring all the food to you at the table. I'm sure if you explained that there is a veggie (maybe when you book) they will offer a nice selection of veggie savoury sandwiches.

My mum did not enjoy the one at Raffles at all (she was hoping for a traditional afternoon tea but it had more local savoury food than she anticipated....).

Another place worth checking out is at Equinox at the top of the Swissotel (the Stamford) as the views are wonderful, but you have to keep getting up to get the food, rather like a buffet.

I can't post links but there was a great review of "High Tea in Singapore" in the UK Daily Telegraph in April 2010....do a search online.

thanks so much! Yes, wanted to stay away from Raffles to stay away from being too touristy.
Will look into that article!

Best! Smiley

The Shangrila has a very nice high tea with huge assortment of hot and cold lunch as well as lovely desserts.  My favourite for high tea.

Agree with Expatica, the view from the top at Equinox/Fairmont is fantastic... what food they serve or how they serve it is not so important... important is the company and the view (especially for a visitor)

My fave high tea is at Rose Verandah at the ShangriLa. They have two time slots, so choose the later one. You can always pootle upstairs afterwards and have a Champagne sundowner at Blu bar, while watching the sunset from on high. Lovely...

Although the high tea is great, we save the Equinox experience for an evening bottle or two of Champagne before dinner (get there early and, again, watch that sunset), then munch either up there in the same hotel (with a knock-your-socks-off view over the Padang/Boat Quay/Marina Bay) or across the road for curry buffet at Raffles.

We are so spoilt.....
