I have some very nice teak furniture that I have had for about 13 years. However, in recent yeas it has taken a bit of a battering with my children's sticky fingers, running cars over it and spilling milk over it! We are leaving and I want to take my things back restored.

I think it needs more than a lick of oil. Can anyone recommend someone who can come and touch up and restore my teak? Also, not sure if this would be a similar thing but we have an old teak outside table that is faded. Any recommendations for doing this up or is it just a handyman job (or one that I can do myself with good oil?)

Smiley  Hi, the carpentry expert to call for a quote is Marco, restores wooden and antique furniture.  One of the few craftsmen left.  He recently re polished by hand my 10 pax solid teak dining table and replaced all the cushion foam with high density foam.  The polishing took half a day and was $300, so not cheap.  But, he will use the proper technique and polish, not just grind off the surface layer as cheaper workmen will do and varnish over so it looks new and glossy, but seals up the wood.

For the outdoor teak furniture, go to somewhere like Homefix to buy teak cleaner and oil @ $20 each.  Presume you regularly oil the furniture?  I have to re-do mine set every 3 months under Singapore's harsh sun, but usually comes up much darker and richer colour.  If you don't want to put in the elbow grease, see if Marco Chin will do such job? Google Chin Antique Repair but this is an easy task for a handyman.
