I am a young South African graduate with a four year (honours) in finance. I am also a candidate CFA currently doing level three of the exams. I would like to come to singapore to gain international experience.

What would be the best way of going about this and is would it be possible to find a job?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Paul

I don't know what that means in Afrikaans, but if it means "forget it, more or less, unless you get very lucky with some personal connection" - then I agree.

It means, stay at home boy... very encouraging. Not. Is that the best you can do? Is Singabore really that bad? Can't fresh young grads try and get some creds here no more???

OM's suggestion for finding a job is pretty good for a fresh grad, but you might want to consider getting an MBA from either NUS, SMU, or INSEAD. It would give you some international exposure and make it easier to land a job here if you wanted to stay.

Sure, if you are willing to SPEND money instead of MAKING money, there are lots of options for student visas.

The bottom line is that the OP has a university degree and the ability to speak English as his only quantifiable attributes.  That puts him in a league of...millions?

I would give him the usual advice: get a job in ZA with an international company that would then give him the ability to transfer to Singapore later once he's proven himself.

Sometimes, you've gotta spend money to make money.

The latter group gets more respect in the beginning

OP in the first instance go for experience. You can walk into UK without a visa. You can claim benefits by simply signing your name. The government is falling over itself in its haste to provide immigrants with homes and personal spending money until you can raise a family and increase your "welfare portfolio". Do you have a limp?  Smiley
Seriously, good luck.  Wink

Yes, we have to maintain the quality of expat trash, we don't want it to be diluted.
