I will live in Singapore for the next 2 years and so far I love the place but I've heard quite a few horror stories about finding cobras in your laundry basket or next to the pool... I have an absolute terror of snakes, can you share your experience? Thank you!

In the 5yrs I have been here, the only snakes I have seen have been while biking in the jungle or in storm drains. IF you live in a black & white (old collonial style house) you are more likely to see then as these tend to be in more 'rural' areas, but most of Singapore is very urban and snakes are rare.

Thank you Rob! I live on the second floor of a low-rise condo... I guess I should be fine.
Do I need to worry about children (2 and 4) running around the condo's pool area? My 4 year old loves snakes and can't wait to meet one!

I've lived in Singapore for three years and never seen a snake. There are lots of stray cats and I saw a frog once.... but then again its said : "you attract what you fear most" so your experience may be different.

Thank you... very happy to hear that the stories I was told are urban legends rather than the norm!
