Singapore does do a good job of bringing together the type of man who is likely to cheat (Alpha males in macho industries like banking, shipping, etc.) with the type of women they are attracted to and thus it makes sense there is a lot of cheating.

  I don't think that is the choice.  But if a woman is going to withhold intimacy she has to expect her husband to seek it elsewhere - pornography or an affair or a prostitute.  A husband who fails to respect and treat his wife kindly can expect similar or a divorce, even.  But, typically, it is the wife who has most to lose.  She is saddled with the kids, no income of her own, etc.   In these cases, it is probably better for the wife to "shut up and continue to have sex with a husband who....".   She and the kids wills suffer if she doesn't.

But...most men behave better when their wives are nice to them.  And perhaps the callousness you suggest can be dealt with better if regular sex is part of the equation.

Subjective perhaps, depending on what kind of woman. People put up with different things, with different end goals and what they value in life.  Loss of self respect and self worth may not very important in some women's priorities. Or they can delude themselves with wealth and material goods for justification, or numb themselves with addiction (drinking) for consolation.

Nor do such women really think deeper about what messages or role-modelling they're sending their kids (daughters, especially) when they put up with certain types of men and behaviuors.

It also depends on the stakes. Ditto maybe why some independent single women become completely  compliant and seem to lose all sense of self, when they get hitched late in life. Someone put it thus. If a single 40 something who'd never been attached is left single and desperate long enoughs and pickings were slim, she''d do just about anything just to keep that happy front that she has finally reached.
