Guys,

I would rather pay high tax on cigaretts than high tax  on my Salary, to make up for the short fall, you cant have your cake and eat it.

What I meant by keeping a receipt after paying duty on cigs,was once you have declarted & payed the duty, hang on to that bit of paper till you have consumed all your cigarettes . If you have bought the cigs. on your way out and have not consumed them you have to declare them. Better safe than sorry? As expats, we are well paid right? then why do we have to deceive, sneak, and avoid a paltry sum of $ 48? Is it better to have your reputation at stake , have your mug shot taken, be in a sensational news item and maybe even risk being sacked and all for $ 48?? or pay the duty?
They trust you do they not? Give you a choice ( in this at least if not other stuff) so why this MACHO atitude?

for the person who said to decant them into a Sgp box - look on the cig itself - many have a duty free comment in small print near the filter.

also, i think even if you have paid duty on them you are not allowed to bring them in.  i could be wrong about that

buy tobacco, take it out of the pack and put it in a pack bought in SP.  hey presto, no tax to pay.
