Hey yall!

This is my first post on the forum, and I wanted to say how helpful everyone has been.  Grin I had the same question as the OP...guess I should hide my resumes in between my underwear and socks! Lol

As a follow up question: is it advisable to visit recruiting firms while I'm in Sg or do you think the traditional walk-in/online resume drop method achieves better results? I've never worked with a recruiting firm before and I've heard equal parts of pros/cons to just be confused about them Undecided (FYI - In my case it's a USA-to-SG relocation)

Thanks!
Emily

with recruiting firms. Well the are bad enough in the west - bottom feeders below estate agents and cockroachs but one ones out here mange to exceed that. They are useless and I say this from dealing with them from both sides - potential applicant and as a recruiter.

How long are you planning to stay to look for a job and in what field?

Good question...after reading the previous posts, I probably shouldn't mix too many job hunting "activities" lol with my tourist activities. I'm actually spending 2 weeks in HK and 3 weeks in SG to figure out which country I'm moving to, hopefully by year end. From what I gather, SG might be a better lifestyle fit for me, but it seems to be harder to find a job there??

To answer you, I "sort of" have 3 weeks while I'm there + whatever I can accomplish overseas. I would ideally stick with marketing/branding or business analyst and, while I have a few preferred industries, at this point I'm open to almost any field since I'm not sure what's stagnant or trending there now.

Well which one are you?

Two different CV's?

Not wanting to wee on your crisps but I thin the chances of you turning up and finding things are low but all the best.

The Govt have said Singaporeans first and rightly so - currently there are equal numbers of vacancies and people seeking them. Obviously if there is not a local candidate they will look outside but what are the odds you will be "Just here" at the time?

either or... I've done almost equal parts marketing and BA in my past, especially since some of the companies were small-med sized and required multiple hats. Hmm, thanks for your input. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed and start looking more heavily into HK then?  Sad
