hi all

looking for a decent set of kitchen knives for missus for xmas - something decent from germany or japan - not huge selection in takashimaya - any suggestions ?

the chef's shop in Chinatown, its on the left side of the Sri Mariamman temple if you look at it from Sth Bridge Road, cant remember whether its Temple Street or Smith Street.  More knives than you can shake a stick at

do not do it, for superstition's sake.

knife/scissors etc should NOT be given as gifts = symbolic of cutting/ending something.
that's a reason why sharp objects are kept out of sight during Chinese NY..

but if that's your intention ...   Grin

Are you posters implying that if the wife feels displeased with hubby's gift ( utility gift - typical choice of males as opposed to an aesthetic gift), she may go berserk and stab him with one of the knives?  Grin

It's a tiny place but I really like their knives which are from Germany or Japan. They also have other kitchen accessories. They will sharpen your blunt knives too. They're just down the road from Great World City - Google 'Razor Sharp Sg'.
