Hello expats,

We are currently living in Australia and are moving to Singapore next year. I will be visiting next month for the first time to check things out, but would appreciate any advise...

We have 2 children, aged 4 and 3 and I would like to get the eldest into a primary school using the British curriculum.  Any recommendations?

Also, where is the best area to live? Is it worth being out a bit and getting a house or would we miss out on the expat community?

Thanks so much!

I wouldn't live in a house (landed property) in Singapore or anywhere in SEA. You'll get some uninvited visitors...

A lot of Aussies live in condos around Yio Chu Kang, where the AU school is. It's not cheap (like anywhere in SG) so I hope you have a good package.

This type of stuff has all been discussed here in minute detail.  Do a search and read old posts, you will get tons of info.  Then come back with specific questions.

Most International Schools do not use the British curriculum, they use the IB curriculum, and because the teachers, as well as students, come and go, the standards are not very rigorous.

Why not enrol your kids into a Singaporean Primary School. Not British curriculum but Singapore's education system is ranked top three in the world in terms of Science, Mathematics and Reading.

I feel so patriotic today, excuse me while I go outside to sing the national anthem.
