We are planning our 3 year olds birthday party but have no where to host it.  Our condo does not have a function room and our place is too small.  It will be about 20 kids with their parents.  Besides the very expensive gyms and playrooms is there another option here?

We're heading into one of the drier seasons so you could go for an outdoor party - hire a bbq pit perhaps down at the East Coast park or one of the others (pasir Ris, Labrador and some others also have them).  You wouldn't necessarily have to have a BBQ, just use the pit, or grab yourselves one of those shelters down there and put balloons up etc (loads of people do this - you'd have to get down there early though).

Alternatively take rugs/blankets and find somewhere to host a party elsewhere - McRitchie, Bishan Park, West Coast Park etc.  Find a shady spot and play games, eat food.

McDonalds do parties, but they're pretty lame - fairly cheap though from what I remember.  Or you could have it in the grounds of your condo if they're quite nice with a bit of space for the kids to play.  There's also the option of a  late afternoon/early evening thing so that it's not too hot.

Always good to have a back-up plan though for outdoor things here - somewhere with some shelter to escape into if it chucks it down, but Jan/Feb are often quite dry so you could get lucky.

There are, on average 10 days of rain or 9.4 and 6.5 inches of rain Jan Feb respectively.  I would say that would be a big risk to hold an outdoor party - unless it was something simple and you could pick up the picnic blanket and run.

Do you have friends that could book their condo common room on your behalf?

There is an undercover area at the Jacob Ballas Park that I think can be hired - dont know cost.

Send an advance party to stake out one of the larger gazebos at Botanic's ?

There is a cheaper indoor play centre at the Delta Sports complex - not sure of name.

There is a cafe at Lowen  Gardens that your could book a table for the adults and then the kids have a good area to run around.

Good luck.  I think this is the main reason so many resort to indoor play centres for parties.
