A busy city, with lots of employment opportunities and in the middle of Asia.  A melting pot of cultures and people.

But I wish it wasn't always so humid.

They say that imitation is the best form of flattery, though I am not sure the guy who started this thread meant it that way. You think he is waiting for me in my neighbourhood yet?

you don't have to worry about wrapping up warm, taking different clothes out for one day out 'just in case' the weather changes - all you need is an umbrella

it's quite a laid-back atmosphere a lot of the time because of the weather I think

restaurants and cafes are much more accommodating to families than back home

I don't worry about my teenagers like I would back home as it's a safer country (we get quite a few murders and incidents but most are domestic/known to the victim - back home there's much more stranger danger than there used to be)

It's pretty efficient although I think it's starting to show the cracks now there are so many people here - I don't think Singapore is going to be able to cope with 6 mil

I posted on the other thread too even though it looks like this one wasn't yours 'local man james'......but you know, while most people moan about certain things here, they moan like that when they're back home too......wherever 'back home' is.  It's not a Singapore thing

Singapore is fantastic, it's like heaven on earth. If they allowed dual citizenship, I'd migrate here. Orchard Towers does it for me. But even more, is its relentless pursuit of excellence. Just look:

World's best airport

World's best airline

World's busiest seaport

World's least corrupt government

World's tallest hotel

World's best workers (documented and certified by Perc and Beri)

World's highest ownership of VCRs

World's longest poh piah

World's highest ownership of flats

Among the world's lowest crime rate

World's best town planning

World's highest man made waterfall

World's best zoo or second best zoo

Singapore is ranked 2nd in the world and 1st in Asia for having the best protection of intellectual property according to the Economist Intelligence Unit

Singapore's largest healthcare group, SingHealth, has brought the world's first integrated neuroscience center to the region.

Suntec city is the biggest man made fountain and is located in Singapore.

Night safari is the world’s first night zoo

World's best hotel

World's best Orchid Garden

World's fastest texting champion

World's First Full Butler Sky Dining only at Singapore Flyer

Republic Polytechnic's School of Hospitality opened its new Restaurant Training Laboratory by preparing a Ham and Cheese sandwich measuring 88 meters - setting the world record for the Longest Ham and Cheese Sandwich.

World's best Newspaper

Terrific food courts/hawker centres

Some of the things I like about Singapore are slowly getting less good due to the 70% increase in population over the last 10 years, but here goes:

Airport

Easy access to cheap eats.

Public transport access and low fares.

Range of cars used as taxis (but not the taxi fares themselves)

Well planned housing, overhead sheltors for the rain.

Central location to rest of Asia.

Generally peaceful intergration between Chinese, Malay and Indians and their religion.

Cheap cars (ok, I jest! Cheesy )
