I have a desktop and a netbook which are used by my maid, but both have started malfunctioning of late. I dont really wish to buy new units, and prefer to have these repaired so that she can continue as before - any suggestions for repair? Thanks in advance

just a question of re-installing the operating system.
Grab installation manual or go to manufacturer website how to do.

People have told me that the higher up in Sim Lim Square (not Tower), the more reputable the shops.  I just asked a colleague who goes there a lot and he said level 4 or 5 - he's had things repaired there before.

Did go to some Indian outfit on level 4 Sim Lim, but they said it was not worth it to replace the motherboard. So I left them with the PC and took out the HDD with me.

But made other discoveries worth sharing: The same outfit offerred me a recent Corporate decent used desktop for about $250 - but didnt need it as I have another spare desktop at home. Also found a used apple products seller - you can trade in your old macs etc. and buy good looking used macs - thinking of getting an airbook, and getting rid of my daughters old macbook. And on higher floors found mac accessories like cables etc at half the apple price. Always thought Sim Lim was a tourist trap but it has some great pockets of value.
