. A thumping headache invariably follows the bitter red wines. So whats wrong with cheap Australian and NZ wines?

are you sure its not the peanuts that give you a headache?

I don't eat the peanuts. And the point being that the cheapest Australian wines are comparable to expensive French plonk which smells and bubbles as though it is still fermenting.  Shocked
And I should know!  Cool

They created a second Economy Class. I think its called "Standard Economy" which requires double the points of the regular Economy seat. The regular Economy seat is now "Saver Economy" which is a phantom.... its existence is whispered but nobody has ever seen it.

Thank you for repeating my post for your own self importance.

With regards a 'Saver Economy' redemption, i've had a few already but, as i said, you have to be really organised.

The issue is not so much in the economy where saver seats are still available (subject lo capacity limitations) but in Business and First where Saver awards were only for the "old seats" ie, B747 and B777-200.

As time has gone on, these aircraft have gradually been replaced, in the last few weeks there have been announcements that New York and Frankfurt are now A380 and Amsterdam has lost the B777-200. So there is now zero Saver availability at all between the US and Asia and only Copenhagen and Milan (i think) left as Saver destinations in Europe.

The air is rife with rumours that SQ are revamping their mileage charts soon (March 1st is mentioned a lot..). The good news is that its likely Savers will be available again across the fleet, the bad news is that this "enhancement" will likely be at significantly higher mileage levels (or the cynic in me... Standard will be the newe Saver..)

So, anyone with SQ miles to burn might like to redeem sooner rather than later to take advantage of the present lower mileage levels..

If you go to the Mileage Calculator on the SQ website you'll see;

Quote
If you are travelling before 1 March 2012

Award Charts
Upgrade Charts

If you are travelling on or after 1 March 2012

Award Charts
Upgrade Charts

But like much of the rest of the SQ website, the link to the Awards Charts for travelling after March 1st is not yet working. I agree with you that any 'enhancement' however, is likely to cost us more miles somehow.
