Besides being able to live in Singapore without a proper job, what are the advantages of becoming a Permanent Resident here?

- You can get your employer to contribute CPF (of course you have to pay yourself too). It's small potatoes.
- Following new legislation, you pay less stamp duty.
- Some services are cheaper for PR's and some are only available to PR's and citizens.
- Employers are more likely to see it as a plus, not to have to apply for wirk permits for you.
- You don't have to rush out if you lose your job. At the same time, it needs to be renewed once every five years.

The disadvantage is the NS, if you have (male) children they need to go to NS. Another disadvantage is that if you want to renew your PR (or rather rentry permit) you need to be living in Singapore to do so. If you renounce your PR it is difficult to get a new one. So IOW if you plan on moving around it may not be so beneficial.

Mentioned above, but needs more info.
CPF is deducted from the pay of PR's and yes, the company matches a small amount. If you think you can invest your money with better results than the company contribution (because you can't touch your CPF except for some specific Singapore investments), then you lose money there.
