Hi all. I am looking for a handyman who can fix my big oven (not build in, size is 60cm x 60cm x 60cm). It was working good in my previous flat but the plug started to melt when I moved to this new flat. My previous flat mate got it from somewhere so I cannot bring it to the store they bought. I search web site but cannot really find where to go... If anybody knows a good handyman or store or anybody who is willing to fix, please let me know. Thanks. Kaoru

If the plug started to melt it could be an electrician you need rather than oven repair.

Google oven repair singapore and electrician singapore and see if you can find someone that way, or try the yellow pages if you have a copy at home (yellow pages have a website that you can check out but I find the book is more helpful)

You could also try googling handyman Singapore - there's a site which comes up who deal with electrics, but I'm not sure if they also do oven repair.  They do say to call them if you can't see what you need listed on their site and I guess they'll let you know if it's something they can do.

Actually if yours is the normal type of oven which doesn't cost much, i would suggest you buy a new one. Repair cant last long also.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I googled handyman singapore and got some list of handyman stores. Good thing is most of them have email address so I will send emails with picutres of my oven to see if anybody can fix. The brand is elba and I dont think I will buy a new oven as I am not sure how long more I will be in singapore.  Smiley Thank you. Kaoru

people try to run an oven here off a 13 amp plug instead of a 15amp.
Check it out.

The PP has made a very good point. A large oven requires a 15amp plug, but Elba does not provide that when you purchase their oven. OP, the service people for Elba are called CASA. I also think that you need an electrician to check your wiring and maybe add another circuit or something, as well as a 15 amp plug.

Would I be correct in assuming these were all gas stoves with some electrics such as clock and oven lights?

Have you installed a 100 electric range?

He cut off the entire wire and attached the new one. As we were using multi socket connecter(which have melted and could not separate them anymore), he advised me not to use it anymore and connect directly to the socket. He finished within 20 minutes! and the oven's been working perfectly well. no more smokes and no more melting.  Smiley
