Two comments -

1) Taxi from Katong (East Coast) to Clarke Quay (one way) cost me $27 the other night;

2) Electricity and water will more likely be 300 to 350 per month if your apartment has no more than two toilets (you are charged for each "sanitary appliance") and you are only running one aircon unit at night. No dishwasher, no oven use and washing machine and dryer only twice a week. Skip the dryer and save another 50 bucks.

Taxi Scruffy Murphys after football (11pm) to Clarke Quay Saturday night was less than 15 dollars - depends when you are traveling I suppose.

I have 2 toilets, use washing machine twice a week on average and my bills rarely exceed 120 for electricity, water and rubbish removal

Kafka - rarely more than 120 a month

These people must be sitting with air con on quite a bit.

You will not find yourself paying less than $300 a month for utilities in a shoebox-sized private condo (non HDB) here, and that is if you do not use air-conditioning (apart from when you are sleeping) and few appliances, if any at all. Electricity costs a bomb here. Our home utilities bill is $1800 per month here. We paid the equivalent of SG $7000 PER YEAR in the UK for the same size of house with all amenities. We are paying over three times as much here.

Again, $1,800/month ! You know, it's better to shut the windows when you switch the aircon on  Roll Eyes
Seriously, I'll be interested to know, beside the unit price of utilities here, what your exact consumptions of kWh and CuM are per months.

Living in singapore can be expensive if you choose it to be....

If you choose to live in the CBD/ORCHARD/TOWN area, then the STUDIO/ ONE BEDDER units are rather shoe boxed .. around 400sqft-600sqft..and you be expected to pay anywhere between $3500-$4200.Only choose this if you want to walk to work!!! Frankly a bit too expensive!!!.

If you are willing to travel 15-20 minutes away north ,south, east or west ..Your money can get you so much more.
800sqft-1200sqft, 2 or 3 bedroom unit!! Good size layout.. But if you run late in the morning, you get stuck in traffic via cab.and if you do the train you will put up with the hassle of  daily commuting in the jam pack train...

If you eat out everyday...which i reckon you would, you could either eat cheap.. lots of delicious local fare.. low as $2,
or you could do restaurants which would set you back 20-30 per meal.

Night life and the clubbing scene here starts at $12 a glass..excluding cover charges and SPGs(Sarong Party Gals)..They are the ones which will burn a hole in your pocket...

So how much u save is actually up to you.....

Doubt Chinotango knows. Any self respecting SPG is off chasing fat old white guys with even fatter wallets, not you lot with miniscule electricity bills and even smaller apartments.

What is the difference between the electricity bill for a HDB and a Condo apartment?

There is no difference at all, every one pays the same price for electricity.

1200 dollar utilities bill? Your 'house' must be a small shopping mall. LMAO.

To the person who is paying S$1,800 per month in utility bills, I suggest you take some time to investigate if any of your home appliances are faulty and need repair/replacing, because something is sucking energy in your house, most likely a fridge or air-con unit that's struggling to operate. FTR - The biggest energy suck is a clothes dryer. If your maid is running it all day long, for each damp sock or wet rag, that could also be your problem.

Come to think about it, most HDBs are bigger in size than most Condo units, and therefore, require more lightning, air-conditioning etc. They also tend to house entire families, therefore, their bills may even be higher than most Condo units.

Unless you live in a landed property, or have the living room's A/C on 24/7,  then you would probably use more electricity,
