What are the pluses and minuses of international vs local schools aside from cost?
I wouldn't consider any school other than The American School if you intend returning to the US. There will be a huge gap in their social studies and history education - which does run through the whole US curriculum!
Given the average American citizens lack of historical awareness this is funny.
American history is great! They won WW2 (1942-45) single handed, Americans cracked the Enigma code, Al Gore invented the internet - all wonderful stuff!

I think what she means is that a huge gap runs through the whole US curriculum. This is consistent with the view that most Americans are pretty brainwashed and stupid about history.
