Could someone please advise the best way to get to JB.  I would like to go over and check out the shops etc.  I understand there is a bus but I don't know where from or the best time to go.  I'll be going over on my own which I guess will be ok.

Any help greatly appreciated.  Thankyou

Go look at the SBS web site for the bus times. Avoid usual rush hour

the bus to JB leaves from the carpark at the Newton Hawker centre. It costs 2 dollars and will take you to the immigration/mall at Woodlands. It leaves every 25 minutes.

I haven't been over for a few years but the last few times I've been it was from the Queen St bus station (the one near Jalan Besar).  You buy a ticket for the express bus and get that - the SBS one (170 I think) stops all the way along Bukit Timah Rd apparently so don't get that one.

when I went, the ticket from Singapore was one way which they didn't tell us - we assumed it was return - not so, had to buy another one for the way back so check that before you come back (there was a ticket booth the other end before immigration).

It's a bit of a funny system too (or it used to be).  You have to get off the bus at the checkpoint, go through the immigration and go down and get on another bus to go across the causeway (this could be your original bus or a different one from what I remember - they just all queue up and leave when full - so keep your ticket in case you have to show it again).  Then you go through Malaysian immigration the other side.

Have fun  Smiley

Jump on the MRT and get off at Woodlands, get a bus or a taxi to the checkpoint.  Go through the checkpoint and walk over the Causeway, go through Immigration at the other end of the Causeway and walk to City Square and plan any further moves to the other malls by taxi from there.  To get back reverse the route

the causeway anymore.
So Kranji MRT bus outside MRT Sing and Mlay customs and then follow crowd to City Square Mall.
Other Malls by taxi are Pelangi Mall, Holiday Inn Mall and the new KSB mall.
There are a few Tescos around except for the one in KSB the others are 20 minutes or so drive.
There are other malls as well but really need a car.
