I recently bought a SONY video camera that uses tapes. It came with a cable to the TV connected through the loading station, but no connection to a computer.

Do I have to buy some additional connection? How can I bring the content of the tape to a CD?

I am really not into this technical stuff at all. Can someone help?

hi ... along with ur video camera, u wud have got a usb cable and a cd ... u need to install the cd in ur laptop and then plug ur handycam to the laptop ... the installed software would allow you to download the recording on ur laptop ... then u can keep it on ur hard-disk or make a cd out of it ....

sounds easy , isn't it !!!

Presumbaly the camcorder is digital and not some old analog model?

If it is an old analog model you will probably need to buy a capture card or box, for your PC into which you can plug the cable you have.

If it is digital then you should be able to get leads which can go from your camera to your computer using firewire or USB. Again it will depend on the age and configuration of your computer.

If your PC has widows XP, then you can use Windows Movie Maker (included with XP) to capture and edit your movies. Otherwise you may need to buy a third party product such as Pinnacle Studio 10.
