For those travelling to Korea, please be aware at Incheon Airport:

Taxi drivers chat up travellers who unsuccessfully try to withdraw money
at ATMs with their credit card (in Korea, a VISA, etc. sign does NOT mean
you can withdraw money with that card!) and tell them "No problem, I'll take
you to town for XXX Won and you can pay by credit card."
They then stop somewhere on the highway and demand you sign a receipt
over a much higher amount (15 times higher in my case).
I refused and had to get out on the highway, with luggage (thankfully that
was on the seat and not in the trunk ...).
A few days later, a mysterious charge appeared on my CC account. The
bank reversed it, of course, but I had the hazzle and worries.

When arriving at Incheon, ask an airport official for an "international ATM" -
and then take the bus to town (cash only)!

Good luck,
    Frank
