I found this article on protocols for amalgam replacement.

A Safe Protocol for Amalgam Removal by Dana G. Colson
Journal of Environmental and Public Health
Volume 2012, Article ID 517391, 4 pages
doi:10.1155/2012/517391

I did find it by googling it but it seems to come from a reputable source and echo's what i had been told by my own excellent dentist 10 years ago.

Anybody have any thoughts, credible or overly conservative? A friend had heavy metal poisoning (he was exposed though his job not his fillings) and I saw the insidious effects. It's not something I want to take even a tiny chance with.

Since this is an important topic and one that is often asked, maybe we should make this thread a sticky, so that we can refer to it to others who ask the same question?

I have had amalgam filings for over 60 years. No problems. Dentists make a fortune replacing them when it is not necessary.
