True, I may have spoken too quickly. Perhaps Brish!t Airways can clarify who exactly he was referring to by "expat women" then.

To PP, if you don't understand simple English, there's no hope for you. Are you an expat woman by the way? Roll Eyes

Fact is that 90% of people are stupid. So, presuming you're intelligent and looking for intelligent company, that leaves you with 10%. That's a minority.

Of the 10%, half of that are males that leaves you with 5% (presuming you're a hetero male). You're now a minority of a minority

Of 5%, half of that are gay - so unless you're batting for the other side, that brings you down to 2.5%. YOu're now a minority of a minority of a minority.

Of that 2.5% women, half (though many men would say 95%) of that are women with more baggage than Heathrow (thanks Brish!t Airways - buy you one at the pub mate). That's a minority of a minority of a minority of a minority.

That's a big ask of a god-forsaken island like Singabore!!! And you're only looking at adults remember.

Not quite. 50% are of below average intelligence, so I would start off at 50%.
Since when did males value intelligence over all other attributes?

Old Mike, where did you get 50% from? I tend to agree with the statistical's statistics from an anecdotal point of view.

Well, 50% are above average and 50% below.

Shouldn't that be "50%" is rather than are?

Not all Asian women do this. For some women, it could be due to the perceived status and perceived to be more loving than the local men.

Dear Board Admin, why do you keep deleting people's comments especially if they are comments about themselves (which I'm sure you're able to check aren't you?)

There are a couple of rules on this board. Most important is that we cannot have racism, flame wars or insults on the board. Posts violating these rules will simply have to be removed.
Hope this helps?

I think that the original question posed on the forum has yet to be answered, namely why a number of women (possibly event the majority) from East Asian countries as well as western Asians prefer to date western Caucasian men.

There was a number of interesting blogs on  this subject the content of which I have summarized here in the attempt to give an informed and educated answer to the original post:-

1.  The trend of Asian women dating western Caucasian men has nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with patriarchy and cultural sexism.  Some Asian women state that what they are looking for "doesn't come in an Asian package."  To put it in a more diplomatic manner some Asian women (particularly second generation immigrants in the west) have issues with Asian values, namely filial piety, the pressure to get good grades during school years, the pressure to do well and get ahead, the pressure to defer to authority, the need to embrace humility and hard work, the need to have harmonious relations and sacrificing life for the future.

2.  Dating western Caucasian men means acceptance into American culture or white culture, the current globally dominant culture.  Many Asian women equate success in life with this acceptance and don't want to be part of a minority culture.

3.  Western culture has historically exotized the East.  The traditional thought process here goes along the lines of western men wanting to indulge in a fantasy indulging experience that engenders a feeling of dominance and masculinity which is lacking or threatened in western culture.  Asian women come from a culture with a history where they traditionally serve men, the stereotype of the docile and submissive Asian women feeds this dehumanizing and untrue fantasy.  The sex industry in Asia is built on this fantasy.

4.  Independence and power is valued more highly in western women, whereas Eastern values traditionally emphasize community and social harmony and unfortunately many are more patriarchal.  This makes western Caucasian men feel "remasculated" in their interactions because they experience (probably more imagined than real) dominance, power, and wealth especially in Asia where western Caucasian men are perceived as status symbols.  On the other hand, as we see on these forums, and in particular with regard to Singaporean women, there is a perception that the only guys who hang around Asia chasing women are creepy women who can't' find women back home.

5.  Sexism has been and is an integral part of Asian culture since its origin and is still prevalent in most East Asian societies. Asian women may in some cases prefer western Caucasian men because they feel like they are treated as more of an equal and enjoy greater independence and respect.  Men in Asian cultures feel threatened when a woman's abilities, talent and social status exceeds their own.

6.  Finally western media which is prevalent globally through Hollywood and through western branding have not helped in their portrayal of Asian men.  Asian men are often depicted as being nerdy, feminine, comical and shy.  Older men are portrayed as being conservative and patriarchal. They are often desexualized and portrayed as not part of western culture.  Of course these negative media portrayals are influencing women's dating choices.

races, if you're trying to push some racial selection theory here; you're wrong.  Although there may be certain trends size still varies hugely within races.  Take a look at statistics on the size of developed Asian countries over three generations and you will see that the younger generation are broader and taller than their grandparents. This is linked to changing diets particularly the consumption of meat, wheat and dairy.  Actually, even if white women dating black men may be a trend in the United States (and I'm not going to go into that here), if you look at the statistics globally you will see that you are wrong.  In Europe for example, you see many more white men with black women than vice versa.  The phenomenon of interracial dating is much more closely tied to development, economics, to the west's exotization of the rest of the world and to the position of women in society.
