The concept is encapsulated by the line "Grooming Gentlemen for Centuries" and celebrates men today who care passionately about grooming and style, whilst tipping the hat to Wilde, Brummell and other dapper chaps throughout history.

The Complete Gentlemen's Experience

Nestled comfortably among iconic shophouses at Amoy Street and a stone's throw away from the Central Business District, Jermyn Street exudes a masculine, contemporary vibe, punctuated with a distinctive flavour of the 1930s. Jermyn Street's design concept combines strong details from the past as reflected in its wall displays and choice of furnishing, complete with a sleek, modern finish and a touch of humour. Hand-painted frescos and library wing chairs are mixed with iconic mid-century modern furniture pieces. The bar sets as a library with Chesterfield-style seating, coupled with strong colour and painted floors, geometric rugs and a central greenhouse-styled air well. These elements complement one another to showcase the ideal gentlemen's club, and doubles up as a homage to Jermyn Street in London, now residing in a Singaporean address.

The 1,800-square-feet barbershop is cleverly segregated into different areas, each with its own specific function, yet linked together for a seamless flow. The sprawling bar area merges with the meeting area to lead into the main arena of the barbershop. Decked in traditional white wall tiling, the premises are functional, spacious and relaxing for patrons seeking for the best in male pampering.

Jermyn Street features six workstations, including a VIP area for personal grooming, and will have a rotation of seven barbers on-site. In-house Master Barber Luke Strickland hails from London, and is fully qualified in the art of straight razor shaving, and handling a straight blade. Strickland's passion for mastering the craft and interest in the trade is unrivalled, whilst his meticulous attention to detail, flawless clipper skills and specialty in classic gentlemen's cuts has earned him a fine reputation in the industry. The range of barbering, tonsorial arts and personal grooming services at Jermyn Street include Luxury Hot Towel Straight Razor Shave, Haircut, Shampoo, Manicure, Pedicure, Eyebrow Grooming, Waxing and more.

To ensure the needs of patrons are met, every customer will be assessed in a thorough, efficient consultation. Great attention is paid to what the client requires, for every cut and shave, to guide them towards the right choice, or to execute exactly what they are looking for. Jermyn Street will be using and retailing products from D.R. Harris who were established in 1790 in St James Street and today operate out of Bury Street; both these streets are connected to the eponymous Jermyn Street, in the St James area of London. D R Harris holds Royal Warrants to Her Majesty the Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales. In addition, the barbershop will also offer a line of classic pomades and other hair products for men including Mr Natty, Layrite and The Daimon Barber brands.

Beyond a Barbershop

Jermyn Street houses a stage for musical entertainment, a private room for meetings, and a large bar area that serves cappuccinos, and other libations upon request. Abundant seating allows for a pleasant wait and offers quieter corners in which to sit and relax, alone or with peers. Broadband Wi-Fi ensures members, clients and their guests can stay in touch. To complete the gentlemen's club experience, classic black and white films are screened to add to the 1930s atmosphere but with the modern twist of a personal iPad at each barber's chair.

Having lived in London through the late 70s to early 90s, Keith Power, founder and CEO of Jermyn Street, has always been fascinated by the style and the elegance of genteel Jermyn Street, which made a lasting impression on his consciousness.

"Living in Singapore, I have observed the growing trend for masculine grooming and saw the opportunity to create something new based on the heritage and influence of the renowned Jermyn Street. This inspired me to open a high-end barbershop with the ambience of a gentlemen's club – and a dash of dandy", he says.

Jermyn Street is the only business outside of London that has been admitted as a member of The Jermyn Street Association, which exists to promote all that Jermyn Street has to offer, in terms of its history and the businesses that reside there.
